A Romanian company could invest 24 million euros in the Giurgiulesti Port

The Council for the Examination of Investments of Importance for State Security examined requests for prior approval of strategic investments and positively approved the investments proposed by 14 companies, negatively – for 16 companies and sent repeated notifications to 68 companies.
Photo: IPNThus, the Council examined and approved the request of the National Company "Administration of Maritime Ports" SA Constanța, Romania (CNAMP), which intends to invest over 24 million euros in the development of the infrastructure of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, currently managed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD),
"The request for prior investment approval provides for the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of ÎCS "Danube Logistics" SRL, a private company owned in proportion to 100% by the EBRD - the general investor and operator of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port", explained the members of the Investment Review Council.
The proposed investment plan aims to develop a terminal with ramps, set up a container terminal, modernize the railway, expand storage spaces, digitalize port activities, and implement solutions for energy efficiency and green transition.
Additionally, the Council positively approved the investments proposed by 13 companies operating in the fields of electronic communications, energy, telecommunications and agriculture. For another 12 companies, the Council requested additional information necessary to complete the analysis process.
On the other hand, for 16 companies the Council refused to grant prior approval for investments, for reasons related to risks to the economic security of the state or due to their failure to comply with requests to provide additional information.
The Authority also decided to send repeated notifications to 68 companies that did not respond to previous requests to provide the necessary information. Three others were given an extended deadline to complete their files with the requested information. In the case of five companies, the decisions were postponed for further analysis.
