Rare earth elements — basis of modern technology and pure energy. It is they who ensure the operation of smartphones, electric cars, wind generators and even military equipment. Below are ten countries that hold the largest reserves of these strategically important resources.

Rare earth elements (РЗЭ) — a group of 17 metals, including 15 lanthanoids, as well as scandium and yttrium. Despite the fact that they cannot be called truly rare, they are distributed on the planet extremely unevenly, which makes them strategically valuable.

China — 44 million tons. China is definitely the leader in the field of rare earth metals, possessing almost half of all world reserves and controlling most of the mining and processing. Strategic management of these resources allowed the country to secure a key role in the global supply chain.

Brazil owns the second largest reserves of rare earth elements in the world — about 21 million tons. Despite the impressive potential, production still remains limited. The country is actively developing geological exploration and infrastructure to increase production and strengthen market positions in the coming years.

India's share is about 6.9 million tons. India is gradually increasing mining volumes, and the government is investing in the development of processing facilities and logistics to strengthen the national RZE industry.

Australia ranks fourth in the world with reserves of about 5.7 million tons. In the country, a number of large mining projects aimed at expanding production are implemented. A stable economy, a favorable investment climate and a rich mineral base make Australia one of the key players in the world rare earth metal industry.

Russia has approximately 3.8 million tons of rare earth metals. The country actively develops geological exploration and mining, striving to strengthen its presence on the world market.

About 3.5 million tons of rare earth elements are concentrated in Vietnam. The main deposits are located along the north-western border with China and on the eastern coast. Vietnam actively develops mining to reduce import dependence and increase export potential.

The United States occupies the seventh place in terms of stocks — about 1.9 million tons. Основное месторождение — рудник Mountain-Pass in California, работающий с 1950-х годов. Despite this, the USA remains highly dependent on imports, primarily from China, especially at the stage of processing ore into finished materials.

Denmark (in particular on the territory of Greenland) has almost 1.5 million tons of rare earth elements, which makes it the eighth most important player. Although the production is still limited, significant reserves open great prospects for the future industrial development of the island.

Tanzania owns approximately 890 thousand tons of rare earth metals. Mining is at an early stage, but the country's resources have great potential for future development and investment attraction.

South Africa closes the top ten with reserves of about 860 thousand tons. Although the country has significant deposits, production remains limited. Active research and development are being carried out to satisfy the growing global demand for these
